Photo of the little sea lion from Kangaroo island, not gone go in to details that their numbers are decreasing every year that’s just a little bit too depressing …
There are $15 tours at the seal bay where you 100% guaranteed to see at least some of them real close

They are wild animals so you don’t get to pet them or anything like that, however you do come pretty close to them and they do approach you to with their little curiosity…
RE shot, this shot done on older Nikon d80 at 85mm … that was shot with my old favorite lens 24-85… i miss that range
…
one of the Must see attractions on KI
This bunch is actually from 2010, but since I got nothing new to post for a number of reason I’m just gone put something from the archives. Enjoy
Lake Frome is a large endorheic lake in South Australia, east of the Northern Flinders Ranges. It is a large, shallow, unvegetated salt pan, 100 km long and 40 km wide, lying mostly below sea level and having a total surface area of 259,615 hectares. It only rarely fills with brackish water flowing down usually dry creeks in the Northern Flinders Ranges from the west, or exceptional flows down the Strzelecki Creek from the north. – Wiki
All the shots actually done on my old Lumix point and shoot camera so there is no incredible depth of field on them or other high tech DSLR visual enchantments, most if not all done in auto since I never really cared going through multiple menus to change 1 option in manual settings etc…
probably the only complain about the area was FLIES there are millions of them and they every f where … also real 4wd is probably a very good idea if you actually want to go on the lake surface.
there is a limited acceptability to the actual lake area because it is some sort of Aboriginal holy land, so if you planing to go there make sure you check few days before with local rangers, if I remember right it was open from 9am-4pm at the other time gates are closed. There are few camping spots in a driving distance area, however there is nothing near the lake it self. Also there is plenty of walks in the areas around with some water paddles and wild life.

another fun shoot with a new face, was pretty relaxing day with a lot of wind … and almost storm at the end of it all
I am very tempted to do 2nd post with Kate… since I got over 40 ‘good’ shots with her and it was kind of hard to pick… almost picked randomly but we will see
“Winter is coming” – its that time of the year when going to the beach is no longer an option as well as most of outdoor activities are restricted by the weather condition. Fear not! Its time for been creative and finally catch up on all the things that were seconded during the summer.
It’s time to be creative … indoors.
it’s time to catch up on movies, books, origami folding (if that’s your thing)… as for me I’m gone try and remove ALL the back log of photos that I never got around in retouching… and there is a quite few of them…
all the water droppings ideas will finally come to life and all the other mini projects that might of been stuck in my head over summer…
winter is coming – its time to be creative
Just one of the shots with a very long exposure, taken pretty much in a lst few second of the sun almost after the sunset with 3 second exposure and ISO 200 / f22…
Almost no post production just general dust clean up and got a bit of color out, however when you shoot with such a long exposures at dawn you never know what colors you might end up with… that’s why it looks a bit futuristic and very blue
This shot can be pretty much done on any camera that got manual control and can be mounted on tripod … and every camera will give you different result … that’s the beauty of long exposure shots
Wait till I get to my ND filters that actually give you ability to shoot this type of shots pretty much during the day… but that’s a whole different story
This shots are dated back to 2009… for number of reasons they never were posted anywhere… and to be honest I forgot about them all together
And since its been uneventful lately I decided to dig them out
all the shots done with very dirty sensor since it was day ~4 in to the trip and there was no way to clean it … post production was a nightmare … cleaning up all the random dots
errrr
Its still a nice weather outside but you can feel that autumn is coming… shorter day and cool nights.
On a plus side I spend almost all day light reading Nikon D800 manual…”why?” you ask… coz I got one on order! wooohooo now the long wait begins
Yes yes you can say that its not the camera that makes good photos but photographer etc… camera is just a tool bla bla bla … well I bet most of you dont drive the cheapest car on a market or have some unknown brand TV in your lounge room… if you do and you are happy with it – Im happy for you as for the rest of us, we spend things on items that we care about or items that marketing department told us that we need
Anyway without going to deeply in to the whole conversation why what and where … hopefully soon we gone see some shots from the new Nikon in my collection
and finally I’m gone have 2 cameras for the events and no longer will have need to borrow someone else s camera body as a back up.
Few weeks ago went to Marion bay in South Australia.. nice little place to chillax and do nothing… the best part of it probably was Innes National park, right next to it … weather was not great but from what we saw it looked pretty interesting for the future visits. Also there is accommodation right inside of the park (photo of the poster right in the post) no idea about prices etc but it looked reasonable… check it out if you not in to camping.
There is actually fair a bit of history there, since that area use to supply gypsum. I guess in 1970th demand for it decreased so the whole place pretty much got left as it is… local government organizations re vegetating roads that are no longer in use and cleaning up other metal junk. As far as Marion bay goes nice beach, few caravan parks, some rental properties, few food places and no reception. Its great to chillax and have a weekend off.
Comments are welcome as always…
